The Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced that the ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ award for 2022 would be conferred on social worker Dattatreya alias Appasaheb Dharmadhikari. Maharashtra Bhushan is the loftiest award of the state government. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Dharmadhikari at Revdanda in Raigad quarter during the day, a release from the CM’s office said. Born on May 14,1946, Dharmadhikari has been delivering dialogues and sermonizing against social ills like superstition and dependence for the last three decades, the statement said.
The award comprising an order, citation and Rs/ shall be conferred on Appasaheb Dharmadhikari, 77 who was given the Padma Shri in 2017- at a function latterly. Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, called on Appasaheb Dharmadhikari at his home in Revdanda, Raigad and warmly complimented him for the honour this autumn. Apropos, his father and the famed dominie- leftist, the late Dr. Narayan Vishnu Dharmadhikari, deified as Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari was also conferred the ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ 2008 award. Numerous types of social conditioning are enforced by Dr. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan. In recent times, the association has done maximum tree colonies. Nanasaheb, also known as the minister of cleanliness, trust has been bearing colourful programmes, including terrain-friendly enterprise like product of fertilisers through remains of Ganesh icons after visarjan.
Appasaheb did his primary to secondary education in Revdanda of Raigad quarter. From nonage he was fond of kirtan, bhajan, spiritual reading. piecemeal from this, he also loved out-of-door sports and swimming. Appasaheb has devoted his whole life for the service of society for every human being at the lawn root position. This work was started by his father Dr. Shri Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari had done it since 1943 and at the moment Appasaheb Dharmadhikari is doing the same work, with the same vigor and readiness to deliver it to the world.
