The Indian Railways is set to launch the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express later this month, as per recent reports. The semi-high speed train, which will run at a maximum speed of 160 km/hr, will cover the distance of 415 km between Howrah in West Bengal and Puri in Odisha in just four hours. The train is equipped with modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, GPS-enabled passenger information system, automatic doors and bio-toilets. The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities by around five hours.
The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express is a new semi-high speed train that is set to be launched in May 2023. The train will connect Howrah in West Bengal with Puri in Odisha and will operate at a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The train is designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai and will have 16 coaches with a total seating capacity of 1,128 passengers. The train will also feature modern amenities like on-board WiFi, GPS-based passenger information system, bio-vacuum toilets, and disabled-friendly features. The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express will be the third Vande Bharat Express train in India, after the New Delhi-Varanasi and New Delhi-Katra routes. The Vande Bharat Express trains are part of the Indian government’s efforts to modernize the country’s rail infrastructure and provide faster, more comfortable and eco-friendly train services.
