Bollywood mourns the loss of veteran character actor Junior Mehmood, known for his iconic roles in timeless classics such as “Caravan,” “Haathi Mere Saathi,” and “Mera Naam Joker.” The esteemed actor, whose real name was Naeem Sayyed, succumbed to stage four stomach cancer at the age of 67.

Junior Mehmood had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital and was in the process of recuperating at home when his condition took a turn for the worse. Despite valiant efforts and oxygen support, he couldn’t overcome the challenges posed by the advanced stage of cancer.

Close friend Salam Kazi, who confirmed the actor’s demise to ETimes, disclosed that Junior Mehmood had been unwell for two months. Initially perceived as a minor ailment, subsequent medical reports unveiled a grim reality – cancer in the liver, lungs, and a tumor in the intestine, accompanied by jaundice, classifying it as stage four cancer.

The news has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood community, as industry stalwarts like Johny Lever, Jeetendra, and Sachin Pilgaonkar had recently visited the ailing actor. Junior Mehmood’s contribution to the world of cinema was not just in his performances but also in the camaraderie he shared with his fellow artists.

More About Junior Mehmood:

As the industry gathers to bid farewell to this cinematic luminary, the funeral is scheduled for around 12 pm at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West, where Junior Mehmood’s mother is also interred. Junior Mehmood’s legacy is etched in the hearts of those who enjoyed his performances. His journey from the golden era of Bollywood to the present day serves as a testament to his versatility and enduring impact.
