President Draupadi Murmu led the nation in celebrating the 74th Republic Day from Kartavya Path with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El- Sisi as the principal guest at the cortege. The week-long fests commenced on January 23, the birth anniversary of iconic freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, now celebrated as Parakram Diwas, and will crown on January 30, which is observed as Killers’ Day. The Republic Day celebration was a unique blend of India’s military prowess and artistic diversity, depicting the country’s growing indigenous capabilities, Nari Shakti and emergence of a ‘New India’, according to the ministry of Defense. An aggregate of 23 tableaux – 17 from countries and Union homes and six from colorful ministries and departments – depicting India’s vibrant artistic heritage, and profitable and social progress were part of the cortege on the Kartavya Path. Several government departments also have their own tableaux showcasing India’s achievements in the fields of husbandry and wisdom and technology.

The first cortege in 1950 was held to mark the end of India’s ties to the British conglomerate. ” Three thousand men of the fortified forces marched before the chairman. The ordnance fired a thirty-one-gun salutation while Liberator airplanes of the Indian air force flew above,” annalist Ramachandra Guha wrote of the first cortege in his book India After Gandhi.   Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on Wednesday said that the electronic Supreme Court Reports(e-SCR) design will now start furnishing its judgements in colorful Indian listed languages from Republic Day. There are 22 languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. They include Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Santali, Maithili and Dogri.  The Union Home Ministry blazed orders for 901 police labor forces drawn from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and state forces. The census includes 140 Police orders for Gallantry.
