Tamil Nadu has witnessed high voltage drama ahead of the February Erode (East) assembly by- election. O.Panneerselvam( OPS) on Saturday made a big claim that his body will dispute the choices on the two- leaves symbol of the AIADMK. Addressing the media then, the OPS said, Panneerselvam body of the AIADMK will dispute the bypoll to the Erode East assembly constituency. He said that I’ve full right over the AIADMK’s two- leaves election symbol as I’m the party’s co- Ordinator .
Uproar over Panalaniswamy’s appointment
The General Council meeting of the All- India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) was held on 11 July. In this, E Palaniswami(EPS) has been tagged as the interim general clerk of the party. still, the Election Commission is yet to confirm the July 11 general council meeting of the AIADMK. In this meeting, the binary leadership formula was scrapped and Edappadi K Palaniswami was appointed as the interim general clerk. Election agency records still show expelled leader Panneerselvam as fellow and EPS as common fellow. still, the matter relating to the appointment of Edappadi K. Panalaniswami as interim general clerk at the party’s general body meeting is before the Supreme Court and the order has been reserved.
By- election on February 27, counting of votes on March 2
The Election Commission on Wednesday blazoned that by- choices will be held in Erode(East) constituency in Tamil Nadu on February 27. The counting of votes will be done on March 2. The form of nominations will begin on January 31 and end on February 7.
The issue of party leadership is pending in the Supreme Court and the Election Commission.
Talking about the symbol of two leaves, the OPS said that he’s ready to subscribe the B- form to acquire this symbol. The matter of leadership of the party is now pending before the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India. The sanctioned seeker of AIADMK won’t get the symbol of two leaves unless the OPS and EPS subscribe the B- Form.
Will support BJP or confederated party- Panneerselvam
Panneerselvam further said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party or any of its abettors wanted to dispute the choices, his body would support the party. However, we will support it as it’s a public party,” he said,” If the BJP decides to dispute the bypoll to the Erode East assembly constituency.
