Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his vision for Rajasthan’s roads, stating that by the end of 2024, they would be comparable to the roads in the United States. Speaking at a foundation stone-laying event for various development projects in Hanumangarh district’s Pakka Sarna village, Gadkari emphasized the government’s commitment to making the country’s villages prosperous and happy.
Gadkari, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reiterated the famous quote by former US President John F. Kennedy, who said, “America’s roads are good not because America is rich. America is rich because of its good roads.” Drawing inspiration from this statement, Gadkari assured the audience that Rajasthan’s roads would be on par with those in the US by the end of 2024. He believed that the development of high-quality roads would contribute to the state’s prosperity and happiness.
Gadkari further emphasized the need for societal change along with changes in governance. He expressed his vision for a society free from poverty, hunger, and unemployment, where farmers have access to water for their fields, and young people have ample employment opportunities. He also highlighted the importance of reducing imports, increasing exports, and empowering farmers to become successful entrepreneurs in the food and energy sectors.
During the event, Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for six national highway projects and seven railway overbridges (ROBs) under the Setu Bandhan project. These projects have a combined cost of ₹2,050 crores, demonstrating the government’s commitment to infrastructure development in the region. The presence of Members of Parliament Nihal Chand, Rahul Kaswan, and Narendra Kumar added significance to the occasion.
Nitin Gadkari’s vision for Rajasthan’s roads aligns with the government’s broader agenda of enhancing infrastructure and promoting development across the country. By focusing on road quality and connectivity, the government aims to boost economic growth, facilitate trade and commerce, and improve the overall well-being of the population. The commitment to making villages prosperous and happy reflects the government’s determination to address the needs of rural areas and uplift the lives of people residing there.
As the roadmap for Rajasthan’s road development unfolds, it remains to be seen how the government will execute its plans and achieve the desired outcomes. Nonetheless, Gadkari’s words serve as a reminder of the transformative power of well-built roads and the potential they hold for bringing prosperity and happiness to the state.
