Madhya Pradesh police have seized a truck carrying liquor worth further than Rs 1 crore to dry state Gujarat from Haryana, an official said on Friday. The Berchha police in Shajapur quarter had entered inputs that a consignment of liquor was being transferred to Bihar, another dry state, through MP. Consequently, they intercepted a truck on Thursday and set up it to be laden with machine spare corridor, said the functionary.
“The truck was searched and 558 cartons of ultra expensive Indian made foreign LIQUOR (IMFL) worth Rs 1.12 crore were seized,” he said. But the motorist told police that he was on his way to Gujarat with the consignment from Haryana, said fresh supervisor of police TS Baghel. The functionary said the motorist has been arrested and the truck impounded. The same thing in December 2022 also. IMFL being transported from Punjab to Gujarat seized in Mandsaur. At that time also, Addressing media persons then at the quarter headquarters, SP Anurag Sujania informed that those arrested have been linked as Heeraram, 30, a occupant of Bijasar, Barmer, Rajasthan and Jethro, 29, a occupant of Gardiya, Barmer, Rajasthan. Police have reserved them under applicable Sections of the Excise Act. SP Sujania said that acting on the tip- off, a police platoon from Pipliyamandi blocked the trace from Rajasthan and stopped a vessel truck having a Rajasthan number. On general enquiry, the matter appeared suspicious.
When the police platoon checked the vessel from the inside a large volume of IMFL was set up at the back of the truck. It was set up that the bill was made in Ludhiana, Punjab and the truck was on its way to Gujarat. The bill showed that the truck was carrying a machine spare corridor. According to SP Sujania, the request value of the roughly 8632 litres of IMFL is estimated at further than Rs, while the value of the seized truck is further than Rs 30 lakhs.
